If you are on this web page, there is every possibility that you are struggling with food issues. There is the possibility that you are in pain because you're sick and tired of gaining weight and losing it only to gain it back again. There is the possibility that you are hurting so much that you are just about ready to give up. And so you've found yourself here.

Have you tried diet clubs, shots, pills, weight doctors, etc., only to achieve short-lived success followed by further failures-gaining and regaining weight each time? Have you known the despair of feeling fat? Are you thin now, but know you are on your way up? Is your eating out of control?

Many people want long-term freedom from their obsession with food and weight and often use extreme and unhealthy measures to achieve this including purging and starving. While some are able to achieve this freedom on their own, the majority struggle most of their lives with the problem.

Our 12 Step Fellowship is a program based upon the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are an organization that is dedicated to making it possible for every compulsive eater in every country of the world find the solutions needed to recover from the complex illness we share. The Recovery Group is not meant to replace face to face meetings ... but it is another resource for recovery. We treat the food and weight problem not as a lack of willpower or a moral defect, but as a disease that can be arrested.

This 12-step program offers a recovery program for the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of compulsive eating. TRG is not a professional diet club. This organization does not endorse specific food plans or diets.

The Recovery Group offers a message of hope and recovery from this serious problem. No matter what size you are when you walk in the door, if you want to be free of the obsession with food, the 12 Step program can work for you. Are You A Compulsive Eater?

Many of the members of our group have found recovery through our Twelve Step Program. Only you can determine if you have an eating disorder ~ if you are a compulsive eater. Here are a few questions which might help you answer that question. Many members of our community have found that they answered yes to many of these questions.

1. Do you prefer eating alone rather than in front of others?
2. Is your weight affecting your health?
3. Do you think about food a lot?
4. Have you ever been on a diet to lose weight?
5. If you have dieted and lost weight, have you ever gained any of the weight back?
6. Do you feel better emotionally after you have eaten?
7. Are your eating habits affecting you negatively?
8. Are your eating habits affecting others in your life in any way?
9. If you believe your food behavior is an eating disorder, do you feel it is your fault?
10. Has anyone ever told you that you need to "push yourself away from the table ... or develop willpower?
11. Are you ever hungry after you have finished your meal?
12. Have you ever binged on a particular food?
13. Do you believe that you can lose excess weight any time you "put your mind to it?"
14. Have you ever "pretended" to be a normal eater when around other normal eaters?
15. Do you find yourself looking forward to social events when there will be food?
16. Has your weight affected your social life, self-esteem or sex-life?
17. If you are troubled, do you eat?
18. Have you ever considered purging to rid your body of excess food?
19. Has a doctor or therapist ever mentioned your weight to you?
20. Is there a particular type of food you prefer and want to keep close by at all times?

TRG's Newcomer Program is a four-part program offered 12 times each year on the first day of each month. A large group of men and women new to the 12 Step TRG program of compulsive eaters spend four weeks in an orientation group environment. These members gather in three places, each with a specific mission.

1. 12 Step Newcomers is a structured and moderated support group designed to introduce newcomers to twelve important topics preparing them for their individual recovery program. This group is a moderated group and shares are on specific topics. Members of this group are exected to read,reflect and respond to each of the 12 topics during the 30 days of orientation.

2. Newcomers To Recovery is an informal support group designed to encourage the sharing of the experience, strength and hope of one another in a safe and casual setting. In this group, members are expected to get a food and step sponsors, develop a plan of eating and learn to share in a 12 Step Setting.

3. TRG Online Meetings are informal real time meetings in which newcomers can meet one another, ask questions and share just as they would in a face-to-face or online meeting.

4. TRG's Newcomer Sponsor Program is utilized when a newcomer participates and does not have an individual Step and Food Sponsor. The Recovery Group's Sponsor Program works with the newcomers to make sure that each newcomer is guided by a sponsor as they begin their recovery journey. Newcomer participants without sponsors are shown several ways to choose their sponsor and learn about the different ways from the program and by reading the following:

Our newcomers convene informally year-round in the Newcomers To Recovery loop and on the first of each month also participate in TRG Newcomers Orientation group. All members of TRG's Newcomer Program are encouraged to participate actively in both in both of these loops as well as their meetings. At the end of each monthly session each "graduate" receives a virtual token and is transferred to their home loop. With their sponsor as their guide, they are now ready to proceed with vigor in their lifelong 12 Step program.
