Coordinator of Loops Job Description

The Coordinator of Loops is responsible for overseeing all the loops of the Recovery Group. The job description for the Coordinator of Loops includes:

  1. Subscribe and receive the mail from the loops. That sounds like an impossible job, but I've been doing it for quite a while.. not JTR or HOTJ, but all the "little loops". I don't read all the mail.. it just gives me a feel for letter activity. After awhile one gets the feel for letters that should be opened just by the title and sometimes by the writer.
  2. Keep the loop TS list up to date. This has been a separate job but really needs to be an adjunct to the loop coordinator's job.
  3. Make sure all loop coordinators have your email address and be available to answer questions.
  4. Know the basics of loop maintenance, especially on egroups.. such as how to find the statistics needed for the monthly reports, so you can help new coordinators.
  5. Know which loops have active coordinators and which don't. For the inactive coordinators, try to dialogue with the person as to whether they really want the job in the first place, and if they do, how they can energize the loop. For those who are doing a good job, tell them so once in awhile.
  6. Be willing to temporarily take over as loop coordinator for any given loop until a new coordinator can be recruited.
  7. Set up a protocol for recruiting a new coordinator.. ie.. ask the loop first, then the intergroup, then loop-wide.. or however the person wants to set it up. Then, use the protocol as soon as is needed so no loop is without a coordinator for any length of time.
  8. Understand how to send out an "all loop" letter through ODAAT so that specific loops can be advertised and recruitment for new coordinators can be easily done.
  9. Keep track of who sends in monthly reports and somewhere around the fifth of the month send a reminder letter to those who don't.
  10. Standardize the welcome and farewell letters.. actually, make sure that all loops HAVE an automatic welcome and farewell letter, since not all loops always have a greeter and/or a 12th step within TS.
  11. Check on the bounced addresses about twice a year and weed them out.
  12. Have a standardized "this is the nuts and bolts of being a coordinator" letter.. stuff like how to receive subs and unsubs, what is required in the monthly report, tips on how to generate mail, etc.
